Sustainable Roots:
A new way to travel

• COMMUNITY PRESERVATION PROGRAM

“From tourism that consumes to tourism that gives back.”

From now on, every tourism experience in Mbya Guaraní communities includes a concrete environmental action. When a person books a visit, they directly contribute to restoring the environment through the planting of a native tree.

Driven by the Asociación Civil Mbya en Turismo, in partnership with Fundación Ecologista Verde and the Ministry of Tourism of Misiones.

¿How it works?

Every experience includes the possibility to compensate the footprint generated by the travel throug the program Sustainable Roots (Raíces Sostenibles).

Your support means:

  1. The production of a native tree in a community nursery
  2. Its planting in areas identified for restoration
  3. Strengthening local capacity in environmental management

In this way, the tourism becomes a new tool for the restoration of the land.

A program led by the communities

The nurseries are developed and managed by the Mbya communities themselves, combining ancestral knowledge with current conservation practices.

This helps to:

  1. Generate local income
  2. Restore native species
  3. Strengthen the connection between culture and nature
  4. Create real impact

Each tree planted is part of a wider ecosystem restoration process. This is not a symbolic form of compensation, but a concrete action that remains in the territory.

The nursery of Yasy Porã: the starting point

The nursery in the Yasy Porã community is the inspiration behind the entire program. It shows how Guaraní knowledge, passed down from generation to generation, can be combined with current practices to create a positive impact. From this experience, Sustainable Roots aims to replicate and strengthen nurseries in different Mbya communities.

Community nurseries

Managed by the Mbya communities themselves, preserving and passing on ancestral knowledge.

Native plants

Propagation and restoration of species to preserve the biodiversity of the rainforest.

CO2 Footprint

Real environmental compensation through the acquisition and planting of native species.
